Why Twitter? What's a Tweet?
"An unprecedented analysis reveals that the micro-blogging service is remarkably effective at spreading "important" information." - Mims, technologyreview.com
First and foremost, you should understand what Twitter accomplishes. As an account holder you can select from a wide variety of other users to "Follow." This gives you a list of the messages or "Tweets" the user has posted to the account. A "Tweet" is a short message that users post to their accounts for followers and/or the general public to read. These messages are usually consistently updated. In our case, we update every time there is information we want to share with everyone. This ranges from city sponsored activities to street closings.
We are new to Twitter, but we see the advantages! The greatest thing we see available to you is the availability of updates accessed via your cell phone. If there are weather conditions that we feel may be of interest to you, we Tweet. We "Follow" Gary England for weather updates. That combined with local storm spotters provides excellent warnings for you. In the event of traffic accidents, we can alert travelers to which roads to avoid while emergency crews are on-scene. Are officers planning on increased enforcement for certain traffic violations? We tell you that, too!
We believe in the free flow of information between us and the people we serve. An informed community is a safe community. Start following us on Twitter today! Don't miss out on the great information we provide.

Stay safe, Cordell! Tweet ya later!
